Summer Salutations
Welcome to the Kentucky District Wesleyan website! Thank you for checking in on our District Office blog page. The primary purpose of our blog page is to provide current local church and district news, information, inspirational thoughts and occasional personal observations relative to happenings in the secular and religious worlds.
On June 17, 2005 the 37th annual Kentucky District Conference of The Wesleyan Church was held at our Lexington Stonewall Wesleyan Church. Pastor Chip Monck and his great staff were gracious hosts. General Superintendent Thomas E. Armiger provided leadership for the conference. Elsewhere on our website you will find a listing of current district leaders who were elected by the conference delegates. One of the highlights of the conference was the unanimous approval of a resolution to commit all of our Kentucky District (42) local churches and pastors to a five year (2005-2010) District Strategy for Spiritual, Numerical and Stewardship Growth. In response, the District Board of Administration has approved the theme “Charting the Course” for the 2005-2006 conference year. New district vision and mission statements will be formulated. Local church and district statistics will be reviewed. Five year goals for local churches and the district will be adopted. General Superintendent Thomas E. Armiger has accepted our invitation to serve as a facilitator at a special Kentucky District Leadership Event for Friday and Saturday, October 28 & 29, 2005. DBA members, other district leaders and interested pastors will be attending. The location and a detailed schedule will be announced soon.
Our Kentucky District Wesleyan Youth Camp was held June 20-24, 2005 at our Maysville Campground. Twenty-eight (28) youth attended and nearly 12 other young people from Bethany Bible College, Kentucky Mountain Bible College and a worship group from Michigan were also present. Rev. Josh LeRoy was the special speaker. Rev. David Little, Savanah Pelfrey and others provided very capable leadership. Rev. Little was reelected for a 2 year term during the youth convention on June 24.
On Sunday, June 26 it was my joy to be with Pastor Dale Collinsworth and the Olive Hill congregation. They had 96 for Sunday School. It was my privilege to preach and along with Sharon join this growing church for a noon carry-in meal in their beautiful fellowship hall. During the afternoon we visited with Soldier pastor Kenny and Linda Hamilton. In the evening we preached at our new Richmond Grace Church. It was a joy to be with Pastor Tommy & Dorothy Masters and the wonderful people at Richmond. Prior to the service I met with Rev. Masters at a possible new church site on the edge of Richmond.
Our Kentucky District Wesleyan Kid’s Camp is July 11-15 and our family camp is July 25-31.
